Outdoor potty training is a great way to teach your puppy good habits from the start. Here’s how to do it quickly and successfully:
1. Start Right Away
Begin potty training the day your puppy comes home.
Take them outside immediately after waking up, eating, drinking, or playing.
2. Pick One Potty Spot Outside
Always take your puppy to the same spot in your yard or near your home.
The smell will help them remember it’s their “bathroom.”
3. Use a Command
Choose a short command like “Go potty” or “Do your business.”
Say it gently and calmly when your pup starts to go.
4. Praise and Reward
Right after they finish, give lots of praise and a small treat.
Show excitement so they know they did a great job!
5. Stick to a Routine
Take your puppy out every 1–2 hours during the day.
Always go out after naps, meals, or playtime—even during the night, if needed.
6. Watch for Signs
Circling, sniffing, whining, or going to the door means it’s time to go out!
React quickly and bring them outside right away.
7. Stay Patient and Calm
Accidents will happen—never punish your puppy.
Gently clean the area with an odor-neutralizing cleaner and try again.
8. Limit Freedom Indoors
Until your puppy is reliably trained, keep them in sight or use a crate.
More freedom comes with more success!

With love, patience, and a little consistency, your puppy will be happily going outside in no time!
