How to Feed Mini Cockapoo and Mini Goldendoodle Puppies at 2 and 3 Months:

Feeding your mini Cockapoo and mini Goldendoodle puppies is crucial for their growth and development during this early stage of life. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to feed them properly:

Choose High-Quality Puppy Food:

Select a premium puppy food specifically formulated for small breed dogs. Look for options with high protein content and essential nutrients suitable for their age and size.

Establish a Feeding Schedule:

Create a consistent feeding schedule for your puppies. At 2 and 3 months of age, they typically need to be fed three times a day. Divide their daily food intake into equal portions and feed them at regular intervals.

Measure the Food:

Follow the recommended feeding guidelines provided on the puppy food packaging. Typically, puppies of this age need about 30-40 gramsof food per meal.

Always follow the recommendations on the amount of food on the packaging and carefully weigh each serving. Remember that this amount is usually the recommended daily allowance, so you need to divide it by the number of times your puppy is fed. Any treats you give your puppy should also count towards this daily allowance – rewarding your puppy with treats makes it very easy to overfeed. It is advisable to give treats after 3-4 months, so that there is no stomach upset in the puppy.

Wet or Dry Food:

Decide whether to feed your puppies wet or dry food. Both options can be suitable, but dry kibble helps support dental health. You can also mix wet and dry food for variety.

Soak Dry Kibble (Optional):

If you choose to feed dry kibble, consider soaking it in warm water or puppy formula for a few minutes. This helps make the food easier to chew and digest, especially for smaller puppies.

Feed in a Quiet Area:

Provide a quiet and comfortable feeding area for your puppies. Avoid disturbances during mealtime, as some puppies can be easily distracted.

Supervise the Feeding:

While feeding, keep an eye on your puppies to ensure they eat properly and show interest in their food. If any signs of refusal or disinterest occur, contact your veterinarian for advice.

Fresh Water:

Always have fresh water available for your puppies to drink. Hydration is vital for their well- being.

Avoid Overfeeding:

Be cautious not to overfeed your puppies, as excessive weight gain can lead to health issues. Follow the feeding guidelines and adjust portions as needed based on their growth and appetite.

Regular Vet Check-ups:

Schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian to monitor your puppies’ growth, health, and nutritional needs. They can provide valuable guidance on feeding adjustments and general care. Remember, each puppy is unique, and their nutritional needs may vary slightly. It’s essential to observe your puppies’ behavior and consult with a veterinarian for personalized advice to ensure they grow up healthy and happy.
